Arthur Gordon Kelly... Says the Darndest Things

Bruce Ricketts

Arthur Gordon Kelly was born July 17, 1912 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.

Where is Moose Jaw?  About six feet from the moose's butt!  You can almost hear Arthur laughing now!

Except that Arthur Gordon Kelly's life in Moose Jaw was nothing to laugh about.  At at very early age Kelly's parents - both of them - abandoned him.  He was adopted by another local family.

Arthur wanted a life in the lime light and he found his fame and fortune in radio.  For over 25 years he hosted the house part of house parties.  For almost 20 years he helped us laugh at ourselves.  But his biggest claim to fame was getting kids to say the darndest things.

When Arthur Gordon Kelly was adopted in Moose Jaw his first name was shortened to Art and his new family name as Linkletter.

Art Linkletter hosted such shows as House Party, People Are Funny and Kids Say The Darndest Things.
