Joan Ricketts is a
natural-talent
artist whose work has been seen around the world and in outer space.
Retired a few years ago, she was renown within the National Research
Council as the person to go to if you needed something drawn, be it
a plaque, a coin or a patch, a portrait of Canada's first astronauts
or of the Past Presidents of the NRC. She even did co-workers,
just for fun.
When Joan retired, the NRC honoured her
with a gift, a painting of herself. How appropriate.
She has been drawing all her life.
Her Dog drawings go back to the 1930's,
when she was quite young (can't tell you that she was 14!).
We have found almost 100 drawings,
paintings and other stuff that Joan has been credited with. We
are constantly finding more that even she cannot remember doing.
